Swedish National Union of Students (SFS)

The Swedish National Union of Students (Sveriges Förenade Studentkårer, SFS), is an umbrella organisation of students’ unions at higher education facilities in Sweden. It has around 64 affiliated students’ unions, gathering around 270,000 students (2007). The organisation works to represent the interest of its members on a national level, towards the Government, the Swedish Parliament, the political parties and the government agencies concerned with higher education. The organisation is also active on the international arena, particularly within the National Unions of Students in Europe, ESIB.

European Students’ Union (ESU)

European Students’ Union (ESU) formerly known as ESIB – The National Unions of Students in Europe – is the umbrella organisation of 45 national unions of students from 38 countries and through these members represents over 11 million students. The aim of ESU is to represent and promote the educational, social, economic and cultural interests of students at a European level towards all relevant bodies and in particular the European Union, Council of Europe and UNESCO. ESU is representing the voice of the students in Europe by being a consultative member to the Bologna Process.
