Thanks to donations from alumni and friends of KTH, KTH Opportunities Fund is able to support student projects and initiatives. All KTH students at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level are able to apply for funding from KTH Opportunities Fund. Since the launch of the fund in 2013, the fund has financed over 200 project by students, PhD and student associations.

Kårfullmäktige (KF) is the supreme council body in THS. KF decides on topics such as THS budget, plan of operations and opinion body, as well as elects the executive board and nominating committee.
Each member has one vote and the chapters delegates are determined by making the candidate with most votes a regular delegate of the Kårfullmäktige. When all regular delegates are determined the candidate remaining with the most votes are named substitute until there are as many substitutes as regular delegates.
The PhD Chapter has the right to elect 3 delegates and 2 substitutes.
As a PhD student, we want you to have an excellent time at KTH where you thrive academically, professionally, and personally. To reach this goal we need to train and work to improve the quality of your PhD program. We want YOU to join the PhD Boot Camp.
The PhD Boot Camp is organized at the start of every semester to give you workshops on the rights of a PhD student and how to represent PhD students at your school, department, or division. If you are not (yet) a PhD representative but you are curious and want to know more about your rights and how to have a great time as a PhD student at KTH, then you too should sign up for the Camp.
At the PhD Boot Camp 20 September you are provided a lunch, presentations and workshops. We will practice the various routines of being a PhD representative such as working with the faculty during meetings, working groups, knowing, and applying the rights of PhD students. You will learn how to produce policy documents for matters of concern to you and fellow PhD students. You will also get to know other PhD students, become part of a network of representatives in PhD school councils and the PhD Chapter board.

Dear PhD students,
Welcome (back!) to KTH for the 2016/17 academic year. As you may have noticed, we have never stopped working for you during summer. So, this post is mainly to remind you about the PhD Chapter’s love for your research and your rights as PhD students.
The new PhD Chapter board was elected at our summer meeting in June 2016 and is presented on this page.
Since last year, our website – now reachable at dr.kth.se – has been used to give you updates on how to get involved, who to contact for your questions and allow you to join or propose projects that the PhD Chapter should work on.
While you have fun with us, as in any of the other local student chapters at KTH, the PhD Chapter board works centrally (all ten schools are represented) at KTH with several committees and councils where important decisions about your studies and research are taken. To give you an idea, you may take a look at this page.
As you may know, there are two different PhD positions at KTH: PhD employees and PhD stipendiates. Both have the right to be represented by us.
We always keep our eyes open for LGBTQ-equality, working conditions, quality of education and research and you can of course always contact us if you have any issues or have any conflicts to be resolved within your PhD studies. It is our responsibility to help you overcome these, as well as representing all the about 2000 PhD candidates at KTH.
Remember that you are always, at any time of the day or from any part of the world, welcome to join the PhD Chapter in our activities and projects, suggest challenges to be addressed, be part of our school councils and start or join our projects.
As for the next activities at the beginning of this new academic year, don’t miss our first pub in September, the opportunity to practice yoga with us and, most importantly, the next PhD Boot Camp where you can learn everything about your rights as PhD students and how to become PhD student representatives yourselves!
